Most students have college debt, some from a couple thousand to $100,000+. Some people say not going to college is a waste of time, and that you cannot get a great job because of it or even start your own business. There are many people who don’t have a college degree and are making more than the average person. If you want to be one of those people making more than the average person without spending money on college then use this article as a key to staying on track!
The first thing that you want to do is simply go and try something a small business venture. If you fail then you have already learned your first business lesson. Allowing yourself to fail will show you the mistakes you never calculated could happen. As you learn from these mistakes and how to work around them, you will not make the same mistakes on your next project. You will see a more successful outcome. Your worst experience will be your best learning tool for becoming a successful entrepreneur.
You want to always be researching, know all the new trends and what’s hot. In college you won’t be reading the latest new trends in the area you are studying or trying to get into. You will read the history of it and how it became. As an entrepreneur, the time you will have to research new tools for developing or new trends for the service you want to provide will change the game and make you stand out. Entrepreneurs that are up to date and know about the service they are providing will be the ones that will be making the money, teaching other people their way. You will be a legend in the making.
Next, you want to make sure you are networking. You will want to be open to meeting a ton of people who are in the community of your business and even outside of it. The connections that you make going to workshops, or being active online could be your big break. You might meet a fellow entrepreneur who was once in your spot and now they are making a lot of money. They might offer you some wonderful advice or even mentor you to become successful like them. You might even meet someone who would like to invest in you. They could be looking for their next big ticket brand and you could be it.
Get into a close-knit group. You as a new entrepreneur want to have people in your corner. You will want some people who have been doing this for years, some family, and some people who didn’t want to go to college right away but instead create a business. The reason why you want this is that no matter what they are going to support you and be there for you. Your family will be there to help you emotionally and sometimes even financially. Your friends that you met that have been in the business for a while will give you the advice needed when you’re stuck, or even mentor you. And lastly, the people who are on the same page as you, these people will be best to bounce ideas off of and even maybe partner up to start a business. This to me is the key that could separate you and everyone else.
Here are a couple of last-minute tips you can hopefully use in the long run:
- Make sure that the business you start is something you will love and have a passion for
- Beware of what your competitor’s prices are and what they are selling
- Always keep a clear mind when making important decisions
- Ask for help when needed, it will be very helpful
- Create bonds that will last a lifetime
- Never give up
Those tips are a few I learned myself throughout the years. You can be an entrepreneur without paying for college. Yes, it will be hard and tough, to begin with, but as time goes by it will pay off.
I hope this article comes as a tool for you, if you are either thinking about going to college or starting your own business or if you are just starting out. As the future unfolds, more and more people will see that going to college is not necessary to do a business that they love. Some people cannot say they love the work they do, they do it because they need the money to support themselves. Don’t wait to let that happen, take your dreams, and turn them into ideas so you can become your own boss.
